Nitronic 60

Nitronic 60 stands out as a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel renowned for its robust mechanical strength, nearly double that of grade 316L stainless steel, coupled with exceptional corrosion resistance and resistance to galling and wear, even at elevated temperatures.

This alloy boasts a range of advantageous properties, including superior impact resistance at lower temperatures, retention of strength under high temperatures, high shear strength, remarkable resistance to cavitation erosion, and excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation, comparable to grade 309 stainless steel.

On the other hand, UNS S21800 stainless steel offers commendable resistance to general corrosion, surpassing that of grade 304 but falling slightly short of the corrosion resistance level exhibited by grade 316 stainless steel. While heat treatment does not harden the alloy, it typically operates in the solution annealed state. In certain applications, high-strength cold-worked material is preferred for bolting and shafting, albeit with a minor compromise in corrosion resistance compared to the annealed condition. Notably, the resistance to selective attacks like pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in UNS S21800 stainless steel (annealed) equals or slightly surpasses that of stainless steel 316.
